July 23, 2008, 10:25 PM PDT

A terrifying encounter inside a downtown Seattle cafe, after a man dressed as a superhero threatened to snatch and harm a woman's baby.

Seattle Police say the 36 year old suspect was dressed as Superman when he made verbal threats after being asked to leave a French bistro near 2nd and Stewart.

Jared Busby who works nearby says the man was harassing customers inside Entre Nou.

"So, they told him to leave and then he said fine I'll leave I'm coming back and taking your baby, she said no your not, she got on the phone and dialed 911," said Busby.

Surveillance video from another business captured the suspect walking down the street after the barrage of verbal threats.

According to Kodi Snider, the man is often decked out as the man of steel in Westlake Plaza.

"He had his Superman pajamas on, black shirt, and a cape," said Snider.

The suspect is a regular non paying customer at Café D'arte. Workers say they usually give him free chocolate milk, but, he's now banned from the store.

According to Jared Busby workers have become concerned about the man's unusual behavior.

"He seems like a nice guy, I think he's a little bit of a crazy down here," said Busby.

The 36 year old man was arrested in his cape and tights at the corner of 3rd and Pine. He was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of misdemeanor harassment.

Police say the suspect will undergo a mental health evaluation.

The mother and her baby that were threatened by the man were not injured.
